Presented by The Royal Institution since Michael Faraday initiated the programme in 1825. 

1982/83 – STC – The Photon Connection
Subject: Communication through Light

Mark Huffington – Head of Theatre Projects Audio Visual 
Justin Owen – Projection Design (featuring 35mm slides, no video)
Jennie Cane – Chief Electrician
Opened at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh (see video below). 
Using Kleigl Performer as the control desk. All equipment provided by Theatre Projects, including sound. 

The production toured to 15 cities for 4-5 months. 

1986/87 – ICL – The Opportunity of a LIfetime

Richard Pilbrow was originally scheduled to light ‘The Phantom of the Opera‘. Here is his timeline:
January 20 1986 – First Phantom meeting at the Palace Theatre (Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cameron Mackintosh, Hal Prince, Maria Bjornsen)
January 26 1986 – Meeting with Maria Bjornsen. Suggested visit to view Her Majesty’s Theatre understage machinery. 
March 19 1986 – Set models presented to Hal Prince and Cameron Mackintosh
March 29 1986 – Hal Prince announces postponement of the opening date
April 13 1986 – Hal Prince announces new date in October. 
At this point, Richard had to withdraw from the project, and his associate Andrew Bridge took over, so Richard could concentrate on the ICL Faraday lecture.
