For years, movies and TV show production was based at film studios around the world, with activity concentrated in a small number of locations, such as Hollywood, California (and the Greater Los Angeles area) and around London, UK.
Los Angeles: Universal Studios Hollywood, Paramount Studios, Warner Brothers
London: Leavesden Studios, Pinewood Studios, Shepperton Studios, Elstree Studios
In the last 15 years, as digital movie cameras have taken hold, more projects are being made ‘on location’ (i.e. in real places, not in a studio), meaning some studios have been struggling.
