Ars Martis Comes (1946)
Theatre Lighting Department at Head Office has, since the end of the war, undergone a reorganisation of Staff. It is still controlled by Mr. L. G. Applebee (now a member of the Board of Directors) who has as his Chief Technical Assistant Mr. E. Scott Purdie, who, with Mr. Applebee was a member of the Stage Lighting Committee of the International Commission on Illumination held at Holland in 1939.
B.D.L. School Course (1939)
On January 5th we had the pleasure of receiving a visit from a party of School Teachers who were in town for the British Drama League course.
Hats Off (1938)
The Manager of our Theatre Lighting Department, Mr. L. G. Applebee, has been accorded two honours, which are well worth recording.
Lecture at Leeds (1938) (L.G.Applebee)
On page 19 of our last issue we gave details of the Northern Exhibition at the Leeds Electricity Department Showrooms, and below we give a short report of the Lecture given by Mr. L.G.Applebee, Manager of our Theatre Lighting Department, on September 14th, entitled 'Coloured and Directional Lighting as applied to the Stage'.
The Gaiety Theatre (1937)
Elsewhere in this issue of Tabs we have made mention of the installation of Electric Lighting to the Gaiety Theatre by the Father of L.G.Applebee - Manager of Strand Electric Theatre Lighting Department.
The Old Vic (1950) (L.G.Applebee)
London has at last regained its playhouse on the South Bank of the Thames The Royal Victoria Hall, or, as it is now affectionately and universally known, The Old Vic. 
Before we describe the refurnished building let us delve into some of the history of this Playhouse.

The Theatre Lighting Department: Mr L.G. Applebee - Manager (1937)
The title of this department is, perhaps, rather a misnomer, as usually this department deals only with permanent installations of theatres, halls and cinemas as distinct from the lighting of particular plays and scenes.

Ways and Means (1938)
Reading the report of Mr. Applebee's lecture on Stage Lighting which appears in this issue, brought back to mind an experience of the writer during the spot of bother across the Channel some years back.
